Even though in a small scale, FOHRID collects charity and distributes it to the needy people as humanitarian aid. In cash and in kind assistance is provided to the helpless, deprived and the people facing natural calamities and acute problems.

Eye camp
Human Rights and Democratic Forum (FOHRID), Morang Society Kathmandu (MOSOKA) and Ram Lal Golchha Eye Hospital Foundation, Biratnagar organized an eye camp on 17 June 2012 (2069 Asar 3) at Birateshor Bridhasram, a shelter for homeless old aged people in Biratnagar. Eyes of 33 people were checked on the occasion. It was found that 9 people required eye surgery, 23 required to use spectacles and 1 was found to be uncurable due to complicated health condition. FOHRID, MOSOKA and other organizations provided assistance for eye surgery, treatment, basic medicine and spectacles distribution. Similarly, the Ram Lal Golchha Eye Hospital Foundation provided expert physicians for the camp. Currently, homeless people aged 40 to 94 reside at the shelter.

Relief distribution to the laborers murdered in Kashmir of India
On 12 May 2006, terrorists killed 8 labourers who had gone to the Indian state of Kashmir from Govindapur VDC Ward no. 1, Morang district of Nepal in search of job. They were from Musahar and other marginalized communities having very poor economic status. FOHRID initiated fund raising campaign to help the families of the victims. The generous staff members of HELVETAS Nepal provided 30,000 and FOHRID collected Rs. 7000 and some cloths from its own team. Through this effort, Rs. 4000 each and some cloths were distributed to the victims families as immediate relief visiting their village.

Details of relief distribution

Total number of dependents of the deceased is 54. Among them the children are from 8 months to 16 years old. The victims family have very poor economic condition. They do not have their own property of any kind and they are dependent upon daily wages for their livelihood. They have been hardly benefitted by developmental and awareness programs due to their weaker economic and social condition. Most of them are illiterate and they expect assistance from generous people and institutions for study of their children.
