Welcome to the website of Human Rights and Democratic Forum (FOHRID). As a pioneer human rights organization, FOHRID focuses on the issues of impunity and rule of law, human rights including ESCR, transitional justice, democratic governance and democratic reform including inter party democracy and political accountability, establish culture of peace through conflict resolution and promoting reconciliation for sustaining peace initiative, and capacity building of non-state actors (including FOHRID and its networks).
FOHRID conducts its activities with the initiatives of the rights-holders through a rights-based approach and has initiated coordination and loose network against impunity with more than 53 organizations and 229 individuals (Citizen's Task Force to Combat Impunity). FOHRID was established in 2058 Bhadra 20 (05 September 2001) in Kathmandu, Nepal. This organization is led by Mr. Nutan Thapaliya, senior human rights defender of Nepal, founder of Amnesty International Nepal section and Ex Member of UN Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights. This organization has been raising the issues of rights, development and promotion and stability of democratic culture. FOHRID encourages women, dalit, ethnic minorities, disabled, sexual minority and other disadvantaged groups in its activities. FOHRID ensures at least 33% women in the project implementation team in its project. |
